Natsume Soseki 夏目 漱石 (Natsume Sōseki?) is a character featured in the light novel, Dazai Osamu and the Dark Era.

Appearance

In the anime, it does not show how Natsume looks, but a silhouette. He appears to wear a hat, and carries a cane with him. He wears a long, gray suit with a white shirt underneath, and white gloves. He also has a short gray poncho on top of his suit.

Personality

Not much is known about his personality, but it is assumed that he influenced Ougai Mori and Yukichi Fukuzawa and is even respected greatly by the two.

Ability

Natsume's ability, I am a Cat (吾輩は猫である (Wagahai wa Neko de Aru?) allows him to turn into a black and orange cat.

Background

Natsume is described as a phantom as his whereabouts are unknown, but he is rumored to be the most powerful ability-user able to see through all things.

He also formed the TriPartite Tatic in order to maintain peace in Yokohama. He then retired shortly after.

Plot

In Dazai Osamu and the Dark Era,he is the man who wrote a three part novel that Oda used to enjoy reading and gave Oda the inspiration not to kill and be a writer instead.

Natsume makes a couple of appearances in the anime but in the form of a cat.

He officially makes his debut in Chapter 50, to stop Ougai Mori and Yukichi Fukuzawa's battle.
